To host a surf camp at Campus Point, or any other use of UCSB property for any other type of event (including other camps, trainings or classes), all non-UC individuals or companies/entities will need a Facility Use Agreement with UCSB. The non-UC individual or company/entity will need to provide insurance and indemnify the University as part of the Facility Use Agreement.

The California Education Code 92440.5 and the California Code of Regulations (Title 5, Division 10)  “Regulations Governing Conduct of Non-Affiliates in the Buildings and on the Grounds of the University of California” (see excerpt below) govern the use of UC’s property, which includes all land on the UCSB campus above the mean high-tide line.

Facility Use Agreements may only be requested by the UCSB department that will be hosting the event or camp. The hosting department shall be responsible for coordinating campus services such as Facilities, Grounds, Parking, Risk Management, and Housing, as well as reviewing the date and location against other planned events.

Departments interested in hosting external facility use events may contact the Procurement office at contracts@bfs.ucsb.edu for more information about the contracting process. Please note – your department will act as the chaperone for the event, and keep the University’s interests in check as part of your hosting responsibilities.

SECTION 100006. COMMERCIAL ACTIVITIES.

For purposes of this section, soliciting and selling shall include the leafleting or distribution of advertisements or other promotional devices.
