On Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at 11am, the Procurement team and the Office of Information Security (OIS) presented “Mini Tune-Up: Data Security + Purchasing/Contracts.”

This session offered a broad overview of data security requirements when making purchases on behalf of the university. Procurement and OIS will share why certain software, licenses, and IT-related services must be covered by a contract that with the UC Data Security Appendix, and how to correctly complete the OIS Data Worksheet.

Restricted Commodities in Purchasing

On 4/23/24, Procurement was joined by Mason King and Jesse Bickley from EH&S to discuss why certain transactions are considered restricted, how to route them in Gateway, and who to ask for help. Examples included surveillance systems, moving/relocation, window/carpet cleaning, blinds/drape installation, catering, autoclaves, tractors/lifts/cranes, and toxins.
