Surveillance or security camera purchases, installations, and replacements must be reviewed by the UC Santa Barbara (UCSB) Video Camera Committee (VCC). The VCC is responsible for checking camera locations, subject matter, feed and streaming specifications, and coordinating with any applicable University of California (UC) unions.

Enterprise Technology Solutions (ETS) will work with your department to ensure the systems are compatible with UC monitoring software. Additionally, Procurement or Design and Construction Services will establish installation requirements—such as ensuring a licensed contractor is used. Please do not purchase cameras from retail stores (such as Costco or Best Buy) to install them yourself.

To obtain approval or implement a significant change to an existing video system, departments must submit an online application to the VCC via the ServiceNow application portal.
